Bum Flora
Want more color and natural variety in your world? Maybe some new flowers can decorate and feed your bees.
Bum Flora addon introduces 23 new plants to your world, including flowers and other plants. Each plant has been hand-crafted, with special attention applied to their appearance and behaviors to ensure they behave as identical to vanilla plants as possible. All of the plants included in this addon will generate naturally in your world and different varieties can be found across different biomes in your world.
Like all of our bum_addon, we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure this content fits as seamlessly with vanilla content as possible. This means making sure little details in vanilla flowers – such as bees feeding on them, or being able to be crafted into dye – have to be imitated as closely as possible for our custom varieties. You will notice that our flowers will behave identically to vanilla flowers in virtually every way! This even includes being potted.
In addition to new flowers, Bum Flora addon also introduces other new plants
Cattails
Cattails are a type of marsh grass that can commonly be found around swamps, creeks, rivers, and ponds. They grow long reeds with a dense head of puffy seeds on the top that, once ripened, will explode into a shower of thousands of puffy floating seeds!
Cattail plants will be one of the more common plants you encounter near non-coastal water in your world. Harvesting cattails will allow you to craft Cattail Reeds which can be used as a poor, but common early-game fuel source. I suppose one could eat the forbidden hotdog on the reed but…
Thatch Blocks
Thatch blocks can be crafted from Cattail Reeds. They behave similar to Copper, in that the block will change its appearance and type over time.
When first crafted you’ll have a bright green “Fresh Thatch” block. Over time this block will dry out into Faded Thatch or Dry Thatch
If you want to “refresh” your Thatch block – simply interact with it while holding a water bucket!
Be wary! Dry Thatch is considerably flammable!
Briars
Briars, also known as Brambles, is a type of thorny bush that cut and stab anything that is unfortunate enough to stumble into them. They’re commonly found in forests and other shady, wooded areas. Some folks use them as natural fences…
Unlike flowers, briars cannot be cloned so any briars you need will have to be sourced from the wilderness. They provide a powerful utility as traps and defensive walls against both monsters and players, as any entities that stumble into the bush will begin taking damage every second until they get out of the bush!
It’s important to know that briars cannot kill – only hurt
Aloe
Aloe is a succulent plant found in arid regions and windowsills the world over! Boasting many health benefits, Aloe Leaves can be eaten and used as a treatment for burns!
Aloe Leaves can be picked and will grow back over time, but be careful not to over-pick your Aloe plant, or else it will die
Consuming the Aloe Leaves will satiate your hunger and provide brief Fire Resistance!
Small Cactus
You didn’t think you were safe from Briars in the desert, did you?
Small Cactus behave identically to Briars! No touchy!
